便秘の英語表現①： constipated
「便秘の状態にある」ことを英語では “constipated” [ˈkɒnstɪpeɪtɪd] といいます。
“be constipated” や “get constipated” の形で使います。
constipatedunable to empty your bowels as often as you should
I have been constipated for days.
(もう何日も便秘なの)

I easily get constipated if I don’t eat enough vegetables.
(あまり野菜を食べないとすぐ便秘する)
便秘の英語表現②：constipation
“constipation” でも「便秘」を表現できます。
constipated は形容詞でしたが、“constipation” は名詞です。
constipationA condition in which there is difficulty in emptying the bowels, usually associated with hardened faeces.
日常会話では constipated を使う機会が多いですが、病院で症状を伝えるときなど、医学的な話をするときは constipation を使います。
“constipation” は不可算名詞(uncountable noun) であることに注意です！
Dehydration can cause constipation.
（脱水は便秘につながります）
Doctor: Can you tell me the symptoms you’ve been experiencing?
（医者：どういった症状があるのか教えてください）
Patient: Yeah. Ah, I had a headache, a cough, I had heartburn, and constipation too.

便秘薬は英語で何？
「便秘薬」は英語で “laxative” [ˈlæk.sə.tɪv] といいます。
また「便をやわらかくするタイプの便秘薬」のことを “stool softener” [stuːl ˈsɑːfənɚ] といいます。
